Guidance needed on UDPApp Sketch

Postby DrStu » Wed Aug 25, 2010 9:09 am

Hi all,

I've new here, just started using my YJ. I followed through the instructions in wiki (changing the headers in the library code). Also i have changed the parameters in the sketch , giving it ip and the router's password etc etc.

On the software side, I've modified the IP too and run it. Unfortunately, all i get is a "hello" , which means that i'm not getting a reply from the YJ i guess.

The funny thing is, I tried a ping to the YJ and did get a response.

(I have only two devices connected to my router btw)

Any suggestions on detecting the error is greatly appreciated~! :D

PS: Just checked in my router config page, the IP of the YJ is NOT actually listed as connected to it. Am I expecting to see the IP of the YJ listed there if it has succesfully connected to the router?

Ok got the board to connect to the router (Verified from the router config page - an 'unknown' device connected with the YJ's IP i specified.

The problem was with my router, it was supported but the wpa2 security on it wasn't

Nevertheless, I'm still not able to get the software running as it should. All i see is a "Hello" ....and dead silence, no reply, wad could be wrong with it?

Appreciate your help all :)

Give the code on this thread a try; you will need to use both the Arduino/WiShield as well as PC code.

WOW! Works flawlessly! :D

I was actually scanning through dat forum post when you replied ^^ . Took about 3 mins to reconfigure your code and it just worked miraculously! :) I'm very grateful for your help Greg :)

At least now I know my hardware , router etc are working fine :) Just wondering why the UDPApp didn't work.

I'll try it again as I would like my PC to initiate (send the 1st packet) while the YJ just listens on (conserving power is not important for me^^) .

Thanks again Greg :)

Glad that it worked for you! The out of the box UDP sample has worked for me but is probably not the best bit of sample code ;)
