Blackwidow + SD Card Shield = Datalogging Web server?

Postby Dino » Thu Sep 02, 2010 6:49 pm

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum.

I've been researching Arduino for a while now and it's time to make a decision on which micro controller to use.

What we are looking for is a controller to connect to a wireless router and host files online of what sensors are doing (data logger). The arduino will be connected to a variety of sensors which will be read in using NMEA coding. The arduino will then create a log file of the various sensors (about 6-10) to a csv file and hopefully put them on a web page.

If I purchase the Black widow, could I use an SD card shield add-on to make this package work?

Also, Where can I buy one of these black widows? I would prefer this over a basic arduino and having to buy a bunch of shields for it.

Thanks,
Dino

This all sounds very doable. You may consider the WiShield 2.0 as it has a 16mbit dataflash built it and may negate your need for an SD card shield (and are also currently in stock). If you do go with a BW and an SD card reader make sure that they are pin compatible - that is that they are not both hardwired to use the same pins in an incompatible manner.
