OK so it flashes pretty lights. What else can it do? Well, actually quite a lot. Basically, it monitors key words or simple phrases sent via twitter. Everytime someone sends a tweet which matches a stored word; i.e. peace, war, love, hate, (your choice) a different colored LED comes on. It also keeps track of how many times a particular word is used. With over 500M on Twitter, it's fun just to watch what word gets flashed more oftened. Reacting to the general mood in hyperspace sort of speak. So far it's been a great conversation piece at parties!
The implementation is a simple variation of the TweetM by ThingM (http://thingm.com/products/tweetm.html), but uses an Arduino Duemilanove & a WiShield instead of a YJ. There were no changes required to the code, other than the normal WiSheild configs & which words you want your monitor to "tweet" to.
